Joovy Kooper X2 Review – Should You Buy it?

Joovy Kooper X2 Double Stroller

Appearance

Kooper X2 has a diversified range of colors than other double strollers by Joovy. It comes in 6 colors, including sand, black, forged iron, glacier, olive, and paprika. Each of these looks appealing and gives you enough confidence to stroll.

Stroller Weight and Weight Limit

Joovy Kooper X2 weight is 28 pounds. Again, X2 is a winner here between the Joovy Scooter X2 and Kooper RS2. Both the latter double strollers from the Joovy are heavyweight and non-suitable for mums with back pains.

While Scooter X2 weighs 34 pounds, Kooper RS2 weighs 31 pounds. You can’t deny that it will put a heavy load on the arms and back when you lift. In fact, it’s challenging to carry it with a baby on your hip.

Each seat of Kooper X2 holds a whopping weight of 50 pounds. Collectively, the stroller holds 100 pounds which is more than enough for lightweight double strollers. It is an ideal candidate until your baby turns 5.

Seat

Spills on the side-by-side stroller are common, especially when babies fight. Keeping the little being’s behavior in mind, Joovy has included removable and machine washable seat fabric. So, your babies sit in a clean seat and stay unaffected by germs and viruses.

There’s thick plush on the seat to make your babies comfortable and happy to sit in. From the inside, each seat is 13 inches wide and has a seat height of 17 inches. Compared to the RS2, we find the seat back 1.5 inches low since RS2 is 18.5 inches high.

We’d recommend Joovy Kooper RS2 for tall babies. However, mention hand in hand that there’s no difference between seats to the canopy height of both strollers. Both Kooper RS2 and X2 have the same height of 26 inches from the seat to the canopy.

The seat depth of the Kooper X2 is 8 inches and reclines to 150 degrees. The Majority of parents’ mistake here believing that this double stroller reclines flat. However, it doesn’t, but it’s not a deal breaker, as 150 degrees is sufficient for your baby to nap peacefully.

Car Seat Adaptable

If you plan to have a newborn-friendly double stroller, we suggest checking out Joovy Caboose Ultralight Stroller. X2 stroller doesn’t attach a car seat and is a bit narrow, at 29.5 inches. No Joovy Kooper X2 car seat adapter is available on the market.

Manufacturers have designed this unit to pass through standard doorways, stores, and aisles. So, it makes you compromise a little on car seat adaptability. Use it once your baby crosses his 3 months.

Folding

At least, we haven’t seen a compact double stroller like the Joovy Kooper X2. It folds small with one hand and has a folded dimension of 26 x 30.3 x 12.8 inches.

We compared it to the Baby Jogger City Mini and its family counterparts, but this one was the slimmest design. None of the strollers can beat its 3 sections folded minimal design.

Thanks to the small footprint of the Joovy Kooper X2, you can station quite a lot in your car’s trunk. This is the biggest plus for parents having small cars and SUVs like Honda Pilot.

Glad that we didn’t have to remove its snack trays while folding. It saved our precious time, and the self-standing feature allowed us to store it in a compact space. You should definitely opt for it if you live in a small apartment.

Wheels

The wheels on the Joovy Kooper X2 are 6 inches on the front and 7 inches on the back. It also has a reliable suspension on the front tires to keep your little one’s head and neck safe on the curbs and bumps.

Pushing it on the sidewalks and loose gravel is as easy as strolling inside a grocery store or theme park. We’d also suggest considering this unit for Disney since it’s a theme park approved stroller.

Storage Capacity

You’d be more than happy with access to the Joovy Kooper X2 basket. It holds tons of valuables, including blankets, diapers, and purses. However, we believe it’s a little small with 15 pounds weight limit.

You gain what you lose in the stroller basket with the cup holders and zippered pockets at the back. Kooper X2 has two built-in zippered pockets and a mesh cup holder so you can stash your keys and wallet inside.

We really loved the smart and streamlined design of the Joovy, but mesh cup holders disappointed us a little. They were fine for the water bottles but not worth it for Starbucks. However, it’s nothing to make a fuss about if coffee isn’t mandatory for you on the go.

Unlike the traditional double strollers that lack a kid’s snack tray and make you pay more, Joovy Kooper X2 doesn’t. It has separate child snack trays for your two kiddos sitting in front. Besides, the cup holders are a fair size for the drinks and keep them in position.

Handlebar

One of the differences between the Kooper X2 and RS2 is the padding on the handlebar. You get a leather padded handle with RS2, while X2 promises to give you a firm grip with the padded foam handlebar.

Its handle is 41.43 inches from the ground. Parents having tall heights will most likely find it easy to stroll. However, we don’t recommend it for short parents with a height of less than 5 feet since it might hurt their arms.

Sun Canopy

Joovy Kooper X2 consists of two large canopies that cover babies from head to toe. These canopies are water repellent, so you can step out when it drizzles in your town. Additionally, it is UV rays proof with a zipper in between to expand the tier when needed.

On top of the canopy, there’s a peek-a-boo window. This window allows you to stay in touch with your little munchkins while on the go.

Additionally

  • The footrest on both seats of the Joovy Kooper X2 is adjustable. This allows your babies to expand their legs if tired of sitting in one position.
  • Wear your flip-flops without having to worry about braking your stroller. X2 has a flip-flop-friendly brake on the back of the stroller.
  • Unlike Joovy RS2, X2 comes with a quick-release buckle system. So, you can quickly unfasten your baby when he wants to come out of the stroller.

Price

If we compare Joovy Kooper X2’s price with its family counterparts, it costs you fair enough. Although Joovy Scooter X2 is a little budget-friendly, you lose the aesthetic with this stroller. On the contrary, Joovy RS2 is costly but lacks choice in colors.

Accessories

Unlike double strollers like Uppababy Vista V2 and Peg Perego YPSI, Joovy Kooper X2 includes a parent organizer and snack trays. However, it lacks a few additional to travel babies and stroller easily. Here we have listed them so you can buy them along with the stroller.

  • This L Childress travel bag is cost-effective. Since it’s a universal double stroller bag, it will easily accommodate Kooper X2. However, if you want something firm in the name of a stroller travel bag, check out this one.
  • For easy and customized fit on the stroller, Joovy itself has made a Kooper X2 rain cover. It is a transparent design to allow your babies to see through so they can enjoy beautiful weather.
Pros
  • Have a variety of colors to choose from
  • Thick padded and harnessed seats
  • UV rays proof and water repellent canopies
  • One-hand steering
  • One-hand folding and self-standing
  • Compact and lightweight design
  • Zippered pockets and cup holders
  • Child snack trays
  • Flip flop friendly brake
  • Adjustable footrest
  • Fairly priced
Cons
  • Seats don’t recline flat
  • Doesn’t attach the car seat
  • Small basket
  • Mesh cup holders don’t hold drinks tight

Conclusion

This was an honest Joovy Kooper X2 review. We highlighted here its pros and cons and what families it is the right fit for.

We’d again mention that it isn’t a newborn-friendly design as it doesn’t attach a car seat. However, there’s a thick cushion on the seats, and they recline to a sufficient angle so your babies can nap no matter where you are.

The two large UV rays proof and water-repellent sun canopies with a zipper and peek-a-boo window integrated. We loved its ONE-HAND operations while folding and strolling.

Strolling it on every terrain is as easy as pie. You will definitely be able to fit it through standard doors and aisles and store it in a compact space. So, it’s a decent option for small and walk-up apartments as it’s lightweight.

If you want a double stroller for your twins of more than 3 months or two siblings with a little age gap, we’d suggest checking out the price and availability of the Joovy Kooper X2 on this date and ordering it in your favorite color right away.
